5 Reasons Why You Should Unplug From Your Phone More Often

We live in a world where we can get all kinds of information about anything at the tips of our fingers. We can know what someone is up to in one swipe. We can be a part of a community of thousands of people without leaving our homes. We can connect in ways people 100 years ago would have never thought possible. But sometimes we can get consumed in this virtual reality, we miss out on what’s going on in the real world. It’s good to take a break as often as we can. Here are 5 reasons why you should unplug from your phone more often:

  1. BUILD STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS

I know we’re all guilty of this, but how many times you and your friends were hanging out, and no one is actually saying anything because everyone is just on their phones the whole time? Could you really be going home and think, “wow I really bonded with them tonight”? The answer is most likely no.  One of the key ways that we communicate and connect with each other is having face to face conversations. Our communication skills deteriorate the more we get used to talking to profiles instead of human beings. When hanging out with friends or going on dates, you connect so much better without a phone in between you. You have each others undivided attention, therefore building a stronger relationship.

2. GET STUFF DONE 

Most of the time, your phone is not necessary in order to finish your tasks for the day. I noticed that when I blog and my phone is nearby, it takes me a lot longer to finish my work than when I put all my focus in. It is better to be 100% focused and to hustle, than taking breaks in between with whatever you’re working on. I guarantee that this will break your procrastination

3.  YOU WILL ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORLD AROUND YOU

People are more interested to show the world what they are doing rather than just enjoying what they are doing. You won’t have to worry about getting that latte shot or snapchatting every five minutes explaining what you are doing. You will simply get to enjoy the little joys that life has to offer, the adventures you create, and the memories being made.

4. SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOURSELF

A lot of people will do anything to avoid being left with their thoughts. But I think spending alone time with yourself is one of the best things you can do. Learn your likes, your dislikes, your passions, your talents, your weaknesses. Learn to love yourself and love others well.

5.YOU REALIZE HOW ADDICTED YOU ARE TO YOUR PHONE

If you’re like me, the first thing you do when you wake up is check your phone. When your phone lights up, it instantly grabs your attention. Constantly refreshing all of your social media hoping for a new update. When you take up the challenge to leave your phone alone, it makes you realize just how much it has control over you. It feels refreshing to break free from it, that we are not tied down to the cultural expectations to constantly put our best face forward and shout our opinions. We can forget about what everyone else is doing and instead live life the way it was intended; to live in the moment and to never take it for granted.
